Fauxhawk is still in Trinidad without a passport. We have our Congresswoman on the case, as well as someone from Homeland Security, two people from the consulate, and two people from American Citizen Services. It takes a village to be this slow, incompetent, and bureaucratic.
Meanwhile, Fauxhawk's dad is in intensive care and is very, very ill. And Fauxhawk is stuck in Port of Spain, unable to be with his father or comfort his mother. We've explained the situation and have run around in circles trying to get an emergency passport, but to no avail. The responses from the powers that be are robotic and formulaic, and it seems that he won't be able to leave for another week - though even that is uncertain.
My poor Fauxhawk is climbing the walls, burning up cash, and utterly, utterly miserable. We are both, in turns, sad, furious, anxious, depressed, frustrated and ashamed of our country.
Hoping the U.S. government can get its shit together STAT,
P.
