I'm over at Bonbon's today. Go see my not-very-inspired post and then enjoy the rest of Deb's beautiful blog and collection. People who ask me to guest post please take note: I've got more B material where that came from.

Oh - and I love that you guys got all "I'm gonna bust your ass, biatch" with the Haters. A girl needs back-up, yo!  Maybe we can all wear off-the-shoulder mesh tops like Pat Benetar's crew in "Love Is a Battlefield" and do a coordinated shimmy attack against the forces of evil. That would be awesome. 

(But really, thank you all for being so sweet.)

The Electric Pencil and Other Accidental Mysteries

You know how it goes. You stumble across an image that knocks you out, follow it to its source, and then spend three hours freebasing on the most amazing blog you've seen in a long time.

That's what happened to me when I ran across this image and followed it to John Foster's vernacular arts and ephemera blog, Accidental Mysteries. 

Then I read this completely gripping account (Parts I and II) of his adventure tracking down a set of portraits said to be from the State Lunatic Asylum in Nevada Missouri. Dating between 1895 and 1900, the drawings were supposedly rendered by an artist who called himself "The Electric Pencil." Foster's  wonderful narrative of his mad dash to procure the mysterious collection sight unseen reads like a literary thriller in the vein of A.S. Byatt.

Several hours of blog stalking later, I'm still haunted by those eyes.

Tough crowd

OK people, I know I haven't been good about posting lately. I had to focus on other important stuff like, uh, work? Life? Wedding planning? (Nah - couldn't be.) God only knows where the time goes. All I know is that I'm exhausted when I get home and all we eat these days are fish sticks and veggie burgers. Thank the baby Jesus for Dr. Praeger.

A bunch of peeps are upset that I don't post enough and have unsubscribed due to "infrequent posting." I've gotten a few cranky emails as well, much to my amusement. 

All I can say to the haters is:

YOU GUYS ARE A BUNCH OF SLAVE DRIVERS. Next thing you know I'll be chained to a computer in some dank factory under the watchful eye of a pervy bossman and jacked up on amphetamines. I've seen "Dirty Pretty Things" so I know how these things work.

But what I really want to say is:

Baby, come back! I need your unconditional love and daily ego stroking to carry on in this cruel, cruel world.

(And trust me, you don't want content for content's sake. Because I WILL post a picture of a bunny doing a karate chop. As it is, I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel.)
