I woke up feeling very tired and run down. Dragging myself out of bed, I hopped on the subway to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, where I had signed up for a class on city gardening. Despite having looked forward to it for weeks, I felt so draggy that doing anything seemed like a chore.
At the gate of the Gardens, I stopped a security guard to ask for directions to the education building.
"Stay left, keep the azaleas on your right, walk under the wisteria, and pass the tree peonies. When you arrive at the Bluebell Wood, you'll..."
I stopped him and laughed.
"Do you have the best job in the world, or what?"
"Yes," he said. "Yes, I do."
