Just stopping by for a quick quicky. Here's what's growing on our balcony:
We're not sure what this tree is (does anyone know?), but it was near death last year when I cut it down hard and hoped for the best. It resurrected itself, bursting into bloom just in time for Greek Easter. Bless its little heart - I'm so pleased.
The Japanese maple trees are unfurling. They change colors throughout the season. I'm not sure I'm in love, but it's nice to have color at this time of year.
I took a million pictures last night at church, hoping to show you the Good Friday procession that draws all the neighbors to their windows, but they were all awful. By awful, I mean terrible. Nary a shot of our obese, passive-aggressive priest survived. I will tell you, however, that there are few places on earth where you can hear an exasperated mother hiss, "CALLIOPE! SHHHHHH! Stop making so much noise!" without a trace of irony.
Meanwhile, we've started pimping the balcony with various IKEA goods. According to Fauxhawk, laying wood decking tiles on the black steel floor involves a SHIM and a SKIL SAW and lots of other four letter words. He's been working diligently, while I make snacks and drink Hefe Weissbier with a squeeze of lemon and say encouraging things like, "Lookin' good out there!" and "WOW!" An excellent division of labor.
Off to Easter services tonight with my family. See you soon, blog babies.
