Blog babies – man oh man, did
you make my day. So many lovely birthday wishes, so many additions to my
menagerie of fantasy baby animals (including a pygmy anteater, a puffer fish –
an unusual but effective choice - and a pack of French bulldog puppies cute
enough to make your ovaries explode). Really, one of the greatest pleasures of keeping
this blog is the connection I feel with you, both through the ethers and in
real life. It would be sad, dull world without you.
It really was a lovely day. Though
a huge part of me feels silly celebrating a fairly insignificant birthday, I’m
getting better at letting people make a fuss if they want to and accepting the
love that comes with it. (Also, there are not enough excuses in life to eat not
one but TWO desserts without guilt.) I was
also incredibly touched to realize that the presents I received were all given to
nurture my (dormant) creativity. Sometimes
the very best gifts come with a little nudge of encouragement.
Before I turn into a soppy
mess, I want to reassure you that I will search DILIGENTLY for evidence of my elementary
school Joan of Arc fetish, which involved several Halloween costumes,
illustrated book reports, and the blessed voices of Saint Margaret and Saint
Catherine.
