You were all wonderful.
So many fantastic suggestions about how to spend my fairy godmother birthday money...which led to so much agonizing. Should I buy a shiny copper pot? A beautiful knife? A pair of dazzling designer shoes from Ebay? A jerky of the month subscription? Really, any of those things would have made me indescribably happy.
In the end, I bought two things.
The first:
Begonias and dahlias for my balcony garden.
After seeing them on the Whiteflower Farm website (flower porn at its best), the New York Times and then on Katy Elliott, I knew it was a sign. I knew I had to have them. Flowers give me intense pleasure, and these tubers last year after year. I can't tell you how excited I am to fill pitchers full of flowers grown in my Hanging Garden of Brooklyn.
But what did I do with the rest of the money?
Stay tuned for Part Deux of the Fairy Godmother Series...
